Western Bohemia

This area to the west and south-west of Prague is a well-known spa region. Many famous people have stayed in Karlsbad (Karlovy Vary) and Marienbad (Mariánské Lázně) for spa treatments. These are beautiful towns surrounded by green hills and thick forests, and they are relatively quiet in spite of tourism. You can wander around, taste some of the curative springs and spa wafers, and enjoy the leisurely atmosphere. If you like beer, you can visit the city of Plzeň (Pilsen), home of the world-famous Pilsner Urquell beer, and visit the brewery.

Towns and Cities: Domažlice, Františkovy Lázně, Karlovy Vary, Klatovy, Mariánské Lázně, Plzeň…

Castles and Chateaus: Kladruby Monastery, Loket…
