Events in Český Krumlov in 2008

Český Krumlov has a number of cultural events throughout the year including music festivals, film festivals and holiday markets.  Two major events are listed below.  You can find many more events listed on the official Český Krumlov website.

22nd Five-Petalled Rose Celebrations

The atmosphere of the Renaissance celebrations spreads throughout the entire historical center. Sounds of medieval music resonate can be heard in the center of town and its narrow lanes are filled with various conjurers and swordsmen.  Stalls are set up and the packed tavern on the main square emanates singing as well as a delicious smell of roasted meat. Český Krumlov has been transformed into a living history festival.

22nd Festival of Chamber Music

The festival, which takes place each year at the end of end of June and beginning of July, opens the local music season  It is the longest running classic music festival in Český Krumlov.

Eight different venues will resonate this year with the sound of opera and symphony, chamber music, vocals and recitals, with room for jazz, musicals and music and food from European culture, this time concentrating on Greece. Top Czech and international musicians will play twenty-four concerts in this year’s festival.
