Kutná
Hora and Sedlec Ossuary - UNESCO
If you can only take one trip out of Prague, the medieval
silver-mining town of Kutná Hora is a good choice. It is
a small town just an hour away from Prague and its
main sights are easily covered in a day. This UNESCO-
listed destination was the second most important
town in the Czech lands in medieval times. |

Karlštejn
Castle
Enjoy a trip to the beloved hill-top
retreat of the "father
of the Czech nation", king Charles IV. Karlštejn is
especially significant thanks to its role in safeguarding
the Czech coronation jewels during Charles' reign and
in later centuries (they are no longer kept there today).
This is an easy trip from Prague, perfect for a day. |

Konopiště Chateau
The Konopiště Chateau is a good choice for a day trip
from Prague thanks to its proximity to the capital.
The guided tour of the richly furnished interiors is
well worth it, as is a stroll through
the beautiful garden.
The chateau is largely preserved the way it looked
when it served as residence of Franz Ferdinand d'Este. |

Český
Krumlov - UNESCO
We think that Český Krumlov is best enjoyed on your
own and at a slow pace. If you can't spend the night
or don't want to visit on your own, a guided day trip
is a good way to experience this beautiful medieval
town. Expect to spend 5 - 6 hours on the road.
The castle interiors except the museum are closed in winter. |

Karlovy
Vary
Be prepared for a full day if you decide to visit this
famous Czech spa resort on a day trip from Prague.
That said, we think it is a fine way to get a good
idea of what Karlovy Vary is about - its collonades and
warm springs, spa wafers, the Becherovka liquor, and
Moser glass. Expect to spend 4 - 5 hours on the road. |
